Positive Behaviour For Learning—Russell School H.E.A.R.T

Kia ora tatau, welcome to the HEART section of the newsletter.  This will be a regular section where I share how we are teaching HEART at Russell School.  For a while now classroom teachers have been teaching HEART, but this term we have also started teaching to mixed groups of children (Year 1 –Year 6) from across the school.  These HEART classes are on a Thursday at 12-12:30pm.  There are 7 classes and each teacher teaches one area of HEART.  These areas are Honesty, Empathy, Aroha, Respect, Teamwork, Peer Mediators and PAL’s.  Whaea Sose and I are teaching TEAMWORK in Room 5, ‘The Whanau Room’.  The key message we are teaching this term is ‘WE USE OUR EYES AND EARS TO WORK AS A TEAM’.  Ask your child what HEART means at Russell School. Ka kite until next time, Michelle
